There is only one thing more important than your business strategy...
The results your strategy has to deliver.
Getting sidetracked...
We have seen organisations become so focussed on implementing their strategy, they forget about the original results their strategy was to deliver.
We call this being activity focussed (rather than results focussed).
An example of this is, achieving Quality accreditation. Company ABC decides that getting ISO accredited is an excellent way to improve their quality. But at some stage, getting accredited gets elevated to the end result, and the original end result of improving quality is forgotten. The company celebrates its achievement of attaining accreditation, with no real analysis of the impact it has made on quality. This is a clear example of where the strategy (accreditation) has become more important than the result (improved quality).
