By running this programme with your middle management team, specifically for your company, you are ensuring a deep and consistent understanding of your organisational strategy and goals.
This programme is unique as it uses your organisation’s strategy in the teaching of strategic management. Your middle managers will work together more effectively as they understand the role of each other’s units better and develop their working relationships throughout the programme.
Being delivered exclusively to your team, this programme will be viewed as senior management endorsed and uptake of the tools and techniques will be greater. Having all your middle managers attend will ensure aligned, strategic management throughout your organisation.
Programme Structure
1. Establish Programme Goals & Incorporate Organisational Strategy
(CEO Planning)
Consultation with the CEO/General Manager to clarify the strategic direction and goals of the organisation and ensure the necessary strategic information is in an appropriate and available format for use with the middle managers. An independent workplace climate survey can be completed to provide objective information about the current strategic understanding and engagement of the team.
2. Mentor Preparation
(Senior Management Briefing)
Briefing of senior managers on facilitating strategic alignment and implementing strategy through their middle managers. The key concepts, tools and assignments in the programme will also be covered to ensure senior managers are fully prepared to fulfil their role as mentors to the middle managers.
3. Middle Management Training
(Strategic Management for Middle Managers)
Conduct the Strategic Management for Middle Managers Certificate Course to the middle management team. Includes course delivery, marking of assignments, feedback regarding application of tools, keeping CEO/GM and senior management informed of progress and, where appropriate, providing opportunities for the CEO/GM and senior managers to be involved in sessions on particular topics.
4. Programme Review
It is essential to review the effectiveness of the corporate programme. In addition to participant and mentor surveys, seeing the personal growth of the middle managers and the KPI performance of their unit, we can also complete a follow up independent climate survey to ascertain the impact of the corporate programme on engagement and organisational performance.
Important note: Learners on this programme will require the support of a mentor who is capable of providing strategic direction and interpretation to the learner as they apply the programme concepts to their own organisation.
What will you learn?
Middle managers
Middle managers have the critical role of implementing their organisation’s strategy and ensuring it is integrated into everyday business.
Middle managers are in the unique position of having to work within a number of predefined parameters, from strategic direction to policies and procedures. To be successful, they must work collaboratively with other middle managers as they do not control all the parts of the organisation that affect their unit’s performance. Middle managers have to meet both the long term goals of their organisation and the day to day needs of their customers and staff.
Your middle managers will learn a practical, strategic management framework that will deepen their understanding of your organisation’s strategy and their specific role in implementing it. In applying this framework your middle mangers will be able to successfully implement strategy through their team and meet business as usual demands. This programme also develops their skills in the full range of management disciplines.
Senior Managers
Senior Managers will learn how to facilitate successful strategy implementation through the use of appropriate organisational mechanisms and effective management of middle managers.
